Who doesn’t love a big, fat hippo? With their short, stubby legs and large, round bodies, it is a wonder that they can even walk, but in fact, they can outrace a human and have been clocked at almost 20 mph over short distances. Not bad, for a species that can weigh anywhere from 1 ½ to 3 tonnes! I certainly wouldn’t want to race one of those herbivores on land or water. I am quite content to see “river horses” at the local zoo or even better, in my child’s room. Here are a few of Babybox’s favorite hippootamus.
