Celebrate Earth Day
Friday, April 20th, 2012It is Earth Day this weekend. It is time for us to cherish Mother Earth and all the gifts that she offers. So often we cast aside our waste without a thought, but this weekend we are asked to think about our planet and ways that we can nurture it and give back. How do you plan to honor the Earth this weekend? What are you planning to do to celebrate Earth Day?
For starters, why not don this cute and oh so appropriate shirt before heading out. This personalized save the earth pattern cap sleeve tee shirt will look adorable on your little girl. Designed with white, green and light pink save the earth print, it is classic and unique. This shirt features shorter cap sleeve and is a more feminine look for girls and less boxy than our classic tees. Made from 100% cotton and easy to care for. As always, the shirt comes in a variety of sizes as well as in short and long sleeve tees, short and long sleeve lap tees, baseball tees and tank tops. Get one for all the kids in your home!
Once you are dressed up, head outdoors and start your day. Will you be planting a tree, cleaning a park or other green space of garbage or ditching your car in favor of greener transportation like a bicycle or your feet for a walk? All of those small tasks make a difference in the grand scheme of things. Pledge to turn off the tap tightly, so as not to waste water. Think about installing low flow toilets or more water efficient shower heads. Plant a garden. Even choosing to eat local food is a good thing for the environment, as then you reduce carbon-producing transportation emissions.
As a reminder to always be kind to the Earth, why not hang a reminder in your child’s room. This “Nurture Nature” personalized wall art from Oopsy Daisy by artist Shelly Kennedy resounds a message that all of earth should hear. This top quality canvas reproduction is stretched over wood bars with no glass to break. This piece is made using the Giclee printing process and has the look and feel of an original painting. It is equipped with a wire hanger on the back for easy wall displaying so no framing is required. It can be wiped clean with a soft, dry cloth. Makes a wonderful addition to any child’s room, playroom or even beach house. Designed by artist, Shelly Kennedy with biography attached to the back.
So as you head into your weekend, take the pledge to do a little something for Earth Day this year. Safely dispose of hazardous waste at appropriate locations. Remind yourself and others not to litter. Turn out the lights in rooms that are unoccupied. Turn off the tap when you are brushing your teeth. Take the bus to work, carpool, bike or walk to school or work. Think about what you are doing before you do it and ask yourself if your actions are good for the Earth. If you aren’t so sure that your activities are good for the environment, then stop and find another way to do it. We only have one planet and we need to take care of it today.
